Tips on Fundraising for Camp Riley

How do I ask people to donate?

Many individuals, businesses and organizations enjoy helping people in their community and may be interested in sending your child to Camp Riley. Get started by writing a letter, having your child write a letter, or customize the sample fundraising letter.  Adding personal camp stories or a photo of your child at camp lets potential donors know how much your child enjoys Camp Riley.

Consider e-mailing your letter and encouraging recipients to forward it onto their contacts. Sending the letters soon gives potential donors plenty of time to consider your request. Here are some groups of donors who might be interested in giving:

·  Family

·  Friends

·  Groups that your family is involved with

·  Service organizations (Epsilon Sigma Alpha)

·  Businesses (Grocery stores, banks, pharmacies, car dealerships, etc.)

·  Churches

·  Schools

Where can donors send their donation?

Let donors know where to send their donation by including:

   Mail contributions to:

Attn:  Deena Personett, Treasurer
Epsilon Sigma Alpha
Riley Children's Foundation/Camp Riley
8191 E Crescent Drive
Seymour, IN 47274

Make checks payable to:
Epsilon Sigma Alpha / Riley Children's Foundation

Write the camper’s name in the memo line if you wish to sponsor a specific camper.

What can I do after camp?

Donors will appreciate hearing about your child’s time at camp.  Have your child write thank-you notes after camp and include personal stories and photos. You can request a donor list from the Riley Children's Foundation by calling 877-867-4539 or e-mailing campriley@rileykids.org.

Greetings!

With the summer months approaching, hopes for fun at camp fill the imaginations of kids everywhere. At Camp Riley for Youth with Physical Disabilities, these hopes are transformed into reality. Established by the Riley Children's Foundation and Indiana University in 1955, Camp Riley gives more than 200 campers age 8 to 18 with physical disabilities the chance to meet new friends and enjoy traditional camping experiences, such as canoeing and horseback riding. Most importantly, children at Camp Riley are empowered to develop independent living skills and gain self-confidence.

My child, <insert name>, hopes to attend Camp Riley during the summer of <insert year>. Camper families are encouraged to invest in their child’s camp experience. Assistance is available to families with true financial need, but the remainder is supplemented by gifts from generous individuals, businesses and organizations like you and yours.

Your contribution can be made in honor of a specific child like mine, or your gift can be given to the general operating fund for Camp Riley so that as many children as possible can benefit from your generosity. Your contributions may be tax deductible; please consult your financial advisor.

If you have any questions or would like to speak to someone about this request, contact Peggy Zimmer, Camp Riley Coordinator for the Indiana State Council (ISC) of Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA, 812-232-1912, or by e-mail at peggy@machinetoolservice.com, OR the Riley Children's Foundation, 317-634-4474 or 877-867-4539 (toll-free), or by e-mail at campriley@rileykids.org.

Thank you for your consideration and support. To learn more about Camp Riley, visit the Riley Children's Foundation Web site at www.RileyKids.org/camp.

Sincerely,
