Hope For Hero’s 2017-2018 project

The following is an Email from Denise Hagerty, JR Past President

Good Morning Ladies.

I have more for you to share with your chapters regarding Hope for Heroes.  I have been in contact with the Homeless Veterans Assistance Foundation.  They are located in Indianapolis and have various volunteer opportunities for us.  Our Homeless Veterans will be part of our main focus for this year.  This facility sleeps up to 200 veterans every night, they help to feed, clothe and educate them to be productive citizens in their communities again.  I have attached the email from Aaron Carmichael.  Should you wish to donate any items, please bring them to the Leadership/Fall conference.  As opportunities of assistance arise I will let you all know.  I will be visiting the facility before our Leadership/Fall conference and will bring you more information.

Thank you for assisting our Heroes who have fought for our Freedom.

From Aaron Carmichael:

It was a pleasure talking with you this morning.  I am so excited that your service group wants to engage with HVAF and lift our veterans up.  As we spoke about this morning, there are many ways in which to get involved HVAF.  We have many volunteer opportunities that can include cleaning, organizing, painting, construction, etc as well as ongoing volunteer opportunities like providing meals or helping out during our outreach events.  Of course we always need gently used clothing, hygiene items and food.  Here is a short list of some of our most needed food pantry items:

Canned fruit

Mac n cheese

Peanut Butter

Spaghetti sauce in plastic jars or metal cans(not glass)

Beef stew

And of course financial donations are always welcome and help ensure that our much needed programs are able to continue.

Thank you again for reaching out.  I am looking forward to working with you!!!
